Removing (') from names in cells.

    Hi Guys,

I have a list of names around about 3500 or there abouts, some of these names have (') in them example "Al’s Memory" I would like to in one go remove all the (') from any name in the column. Usually I would just go to "Replace" and do it through that but every time I try I get the following message "We couldn't find anything to replace. Click Options for more ways to search" "FYI: It's possible the data you're trying to replace is in a protected sheet. Excel can't relace data in protected sheets"

No I know its not protected as it is me who made the sheet and I have also taken it from the original spreadsheet and pasted it as text into another to try it on here so it really has me stumped. So any help would be muchly appreciated. I have also attached an workbook with some of the data in it.

The character is no ' but ’ if you edit one of the cells containing that character and copy/paste it you will find 4 cells matching

The apostrophe that you want to replace is not on the keyboard.
    Try this
    • Select the range of cells to be impacted...Col_D
    • Home.Find&Select.Replace
...Find what: Hold down ALT...from the numeric keypad, type: 0146...Release the ALT key
    ...Click: Replace all

    Additional:
How did I discover the code for that symbol?
    Before doing the above...
    • Edit cell D49
    • Select the apostrophe character in that cell
    • CTRL+C...copy it
    • Select a blank cell...X1
    • CTRL+V...to paste the character
    • In Y1: =CODE(X1)
    The result is: 146

    Does that help?
