    Project Scheduling

    Hello all,

I have created a complex scheduler system using excel. It incorporates the following:
    • A database that contains tasks with associated subtask completion times.
    • Several VBA forms that basically link with the database allowing for quick selection of tasks, which then displays the time for each subtasks.
    • Reports on the selected tasks\subtasks and details overall time to complete
    • A gant chart that aids in project management.
    • Various other reporting tools
    • An automatic scheduler that factors in nonworking time and nonworking days.

This project was generally cobbled together and kind of evolved into a fairly slow behemouth, so now I'm looking for someting a little more robust. I'm not really keen on rewriting a spreadsheet to upgrade.

I'm looking for a powerful scheduler that can basically automate everything and I'm wondering if there's anybody who might know of such a tool. It has to be insanely easy to use but powerful and intuitive. Also, it would be able to export data to excel, etc.

    Cheers

    Re: Project Scheduling

Take a look at Microsoft Project. I have used it (years ago) and it handled everything related to several projects that I had on the go at the time.

    Re: Project Scheduling

I suppose I should have mentioned that after the data manipulatioin process in excel, I export it to Project.

Project doesn't have a database at the backend, that could be used to select dropdown menus for each task\subtask, unless there is a solution in there someplace that caters for this.
