Presenting an interactive Excel file on a blog

The attached sheet has pre-calculated values in every cell. Values change as prices increase to the right. The sheet allows a user to select various components of an outdoor kitchen island, according to items in the grey column and prices increasing with quality of materials - headings in row 4.

But this sheet goes into a blog. I want to allow users to select any combination of cells in column C, for example, with the resulting summary value in row 16. Not all users will want to select all cells in a given column.

Users will go in and clear cells in a column that don't interest them, thus leaving a customized summary price in row 16. But if this is in a blog, as a dynamic sheet, do cleared values get deleted permanently? How prevent this? Many users will be operating the sheet simultaneously.

Maybe there is another way to achieve the user's customizing process?

    Hi brookbend,

I see you are a new member. [/B]Please take the time to review our rules. There aren't many, and they are all important. Rule #1 is to have a good thread title. Every single thread in this forum is about "calculations in Excel" so your title does not help people to decide whether they should open your thread to help.

Your post does not comply with Rule 1 of our Forum RULES. Your post title should accurately and concisely describe your problem, not your anticipated solution.

Use terms appropriate to a Google search. Poor thread titles, like Please Help, Urgent, Need Help, Formula Problem, Code Problem, and Need Advice will be addressed according to the OP's experience in the forum: If you have less than 10 posts, expect (and respond to) a request to change your thread title. If you have 10 or more posts, expect your post to be locked, so you can start a new thread with an appropriate title.

To change a Title on your post, click EDIT then Go Advanced and change your title, if 2 days have passed ask a moderator to do it for you.

Because you are new I have updated your title for you but please keep this in mind in the future.
    Jeff

How are you planning to make the Excel file available on a blog page?

    Yep...

Still want to know how you are going to get that file up on the blog I think it's much more complicated than you are expecting, and may not even be possible, depending on the technologies used by the blog site.

WP blog. Is that you on B Bounce? Not bad for 9-5'er! I'm listening to Pat Martino right now. 27 yrs ago I studied with a Lenny Tristano disciple. Gave it up for the kids. Now that's they're out thinking of starting up again. Here's an interesting link, just for you: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uz44B...7A8E42D5A47BF8

someone gave this advice: Next to each of the pre-fab, pre-fab2, pre-fab3 columns, put a blank column where the user can make an entry if they want that row.

Native Excel formulas do not detect what the user has selected. And using this in your blog suggests that VBA routines won't work. Adding little "checkboxes" next to each column would let the user indicate their preferences without them having to delete data from the static data base.
