printing at smaller size than it should

I was printing a table today that I'd set to print on one page in the page break preview. It printed a lot smaller than it should have. I made it landscape view (it was 3 rows 5 columns) but it printed at the same size, with a bit more white space to the right. I changed it to font 12, which didnt make it any bigger at all.

Is there a reason why a table would print smaller than it normally would, and that changing the font dint make it any larger? I could understand if the table was too big to fit on the page and I'd forced it to, but in this case there was plenty of spare room around it.

It may be that the Used Range may include unnecessary blank rows and/or columns. Press Ctrl-End and see what cell is selected. If it is beyond the actual data, select and delete (using the icon on the ribbon) any excess rows and columns. Save the workbook. Try again.

There are some options that show up when printing from Excel that I don't see when printing from Word for example. In the print dialogue there is an area for scaling to fit to the page that is outside of the printer driver setup found at the bottom of the list of options. (this is in Excel 2010). If you have this option play around with it until you get what you want.

AFAICR you have always been able to scale or fit to a number of pages wide and/or a number of pages tall. You can, for example, ensure that your printout will only extend across one page but fit as many pages down. Saves paper without making the document totally unreadable.

However, if Excel thinks that it needs to include more rows and/or columns than actually have data, it could end up scrunching all your data up into a corner and leaving a lot of white space. Hence the reason for suggesting that you need to check where the "end" cell is.

As in post # 3 there is also an option of "Adjust to" in page setup option

Page layout-->size --> more paper sizes

set this to 100 for normal printing
