How to keep cell formatting from one sheet to another

I have a "data" sheet with three cells that have symbols in them and they have been formatted in size and color from the standard black and white. My calculation sheet will call on one of the three cells based on a formula. Ex. - if a value is greater than another than that cell will equal one of the symbol cells from the data sheet and populates that cell accordingly. However, when it populates the cell, it defaults to the standard black and white symbol and the default size of the symbol. How do I make it bring the formatting from my data sheet for the size and color???

Thank you in advance for the help!
    C.

Re: How to keep cell formatting from one sheet to another

    AlKey -
Ok....Well, still having issues. I have taken three different cells and inserted a symbol into each one of those cells. I then selected each cell individually to change the font, line color, etc. to get the disired effect for each symbol. Here is what confuses me.....if I select any one of these cells and copy/paste to another cell it brings the formatting with it. If I use these cells in a formula that calls any one of the three cells as the answer to the formula it only brings the stock black and white shape with no formatting....=IF(P34>=B34,(Data!$B$1),IF(P34>C34,(Data!$B$2),IF(P34<=C34,(Data!$B$3),""))) I can't use the video tutorial really because my "status column" can have any one of these three symbols as the answer, so I can't assign a cell style to that whole column because each symbol has a different formatting and color - make sense? What I need to be able to do is when the logical test is true in the formula and it calls the cell with the appropriate shape it should bring the whole cell and its formatting...I have no clue why it won't do that??

If copy a cell(s) in paste into another range, yes it will carry over formatting. Have your tried to copy cell and past special, values only?
Also, maybe there is another solution with this is to save spreadsheet As Template so it can re-used over and over again.
    Just a thought.

That is the point really - I can't copy and paste because I need it to just pull the cell that answers the formula and it just needs to bring that cell as it is currently formatted and not as the destination formatting.
