Drop Down will not automatically fill when typing.

OK, the long and short of this... I have a football pool that has a tab for each week
I took the first column A (which is hidden) and listed every team, which made it easier to add a drop down box when setting up Who was playing who in column B, and C. The only thing is I have to click on the drop down and scroll to the correct team. So if Arizona is playing San Francisco... It is from the top to the bottom.

What I would like to do minimally is be able to just go to the cell in column B or C, and start typing the name and only the team names starting with the letter A would appear and also with S... Basically the more I type I can eventually hit enter and the right name populates.

Another thing, and I am not sure if this is possible, is once a team name is entered, it will NOT show up on the list as a choice... for instance by the time I get down to the second to last teams playing, then there would only be 4 team names left, 3, 2, then 1... that might require a lot of stuff.

I did do something fantastic with the rows, where if I set Arizona @ San Francisco... as I go along the rows to enter peoples selections, it will only show those two teams as options.

Any help you can offer with my first problem of setting the teams playing would be awesome.

The Data Validation drop-down does not have an AutoComplete feature, which is what you are describing. However, you can achieve this using a Combo box, and Debra Dalgleish explains how this can be done on her website here:

    http://www.contextures.com/xlDataVal10.html

The site has lots of articles about data validation (like hiding items that have been chosen), so it will be well worth your while having a browse around the site.

    Hope this helps.

I went to that page, and I see what it is saying, but I am having a hard time doing what it is asking. I finally got the developer tab to appear in the ribbon, but as far as inserting the combo box, I am having a hard time. there is a video on the page you sent me, unfortunately I will have to view that at home as they disable most video content at work.

Thanks for the info, looks like it is possible but I will have to do some homework.

There are also various example files that you can download, so those may be a good starting point, rather than from scratch.
