    Changing a time period...

    Guys
This Is a tricky one that is bugging me as I once solved it, but can no longer remember how!
I was to be able to adjust the cash flow timing based on a MOD function.
It really needs to be a MOD function because I want other cells to refer to the number and divide by the correct number (eg. If you had income, in quarters, it should look to that cell and divide by 4).
Any help greatly appreciated – Excel sheet attached.
    Thanks!

    ps65,

I looked at the sheet but couldn't understand what you need.

Is there a cashflow stream that gets divided based on the frequency?

The MOD function gives the remainder, e.g. Mod(100,12) = 4

I'm not clear on how you see that relating to calculating frequency or instalments.

Happy to help if you can explain a little.

    Cheers

    Re: Changing a time period...

Thanks for your response; maybe I confused the situation by stating it needed to be a MOD function.

I am building a cash flow model over a period of time. Often, the analysis needs to be done over varying time periods, eg. a monthly cash flow, a quarterly cash flow or a yearly cash flow. Often, you can just create a new table and create a SUMIF criteria, but I want to make the spreadsheet more dynamic.

Effectively, I want an input (1 cell) to control the ability to change the cash flow (as in the original attachment) structure depending on the input. So, 1 = yearly, 4 = quarterly and 12 = monthly.

The idea of having that number convention is as follows. Say you have income per annum, cash flow structure is monthly, you can simply look to the input cell and it will change to monthly (ie. income/12).

    Hope that’s clearer?
Thanks again for your offer to help.

Hi - please see the attached sheet. It generates cash flow dates according to the frequency input.

Is this what you were looking for?

    Cheers
