Number Sorting Issues

I am having issues with the sorting of catalog numbers.

I currently have a "country" Column B(sorted first) then a "number" Column C that can vary with letters or dash. As of now it almost sorts correctly but I need it to go in this order. what seems to be out of place are the numbers with the dash in between. I desperately need a fix to put them in place. With over 125,000 pieces of inventory I can't move it one by one. Please help.

Re: Number Sorting Issues

There may be a more elegant solution, but here's what I did:

Add two helper columns--1 for the value before a dash, 1 for the value after. If there's no dash, the second column will be blank.

Then go to sort and choose to sort the whole set by the number before the dash, then click "Add Level" and make the second level the number after the dash.

Tell it to treat anything that looks like a number as a number. Then sort away!

Should work. My version is attached.

Re: Number Sorting Issues

I have been looking at this as well, you have a good start there, now you just ned to work out what to do with number/letter combo's
1. Use code tags for VBA.
Your Code
(or use the # button)
2. If your question is resolved, mark it SOLVED using the thread tools
3. Click on the star if you think someone helped you

Thank-you so much! People I have asked were trying to come up with extreme formulas and were getting undesired results. "K.I.S.S."
