Delete Sheet on a Shared Workbook

I have a file that has an original file format .xls

I saved as .xlsx (I am using Excel 2007) with a different name so I could make changes to the new file without changing the original.

That helped turn off compatibilty mode.... but it is still "shared". While it is shared I cannot delete a sheet. In fact, I really don't even want it to be shared. If the file is open, and someone else opens it, I want it to open as "read only". I cannot uncheck the "Allow changes by more than one user at the same time. This also allows workbook merging." checkbox because it is greyed out.

    Any Suggestions?

Just turn off the share workbook option

That is exactly what I want to do.... but the check box that says "Allow changes by more than one user at the same time. This also allows workbook merging." is greyed out so I cannot uncheck the box. Is there another way to turn off the share workbook option?

Re: Delete Sheet on a Shared Workbook

    Mmmm - strange!

Seing as though it seems you don't mind working in a new file, a quick work around i would suggest would be to.

    1. CNTRL+H (find and replace - choosing the option entire workbook) - find "=" and replace with "A="
    2. Select all sheets and copy and move to a brand new workbook
    3. CNTRL+H find "A=" and replace with "="

so basically by doing the above you are temporarily removing all formulas, moving all sheets to a new workbook and then reinstating the formulas so that the links still work.

    Hope that helps.....!?
