Reduce the number of rows in a spreadsheet

I have a sheet which has 192 rows of data (data records). Now I block and delete 50 rows from the middle of the sheet. In that case, 50 records disappear and the sheet now only contains 142 rows (data records).

However, if I go to the lower corner of the sheet (Ctrl-End), the cursor still takes me to row 192, not row 142. This is a problem because, if I try to import the data from this sheet into an ACCESS file, ACCESS imports all 192 records, including 50 blank records from the end of the spreadsheet.

How can I reduce the number of rows in this spreadsheet so that Excel and ACCESS both understand that it only contains 142 data records, not 192?

Go to the bottom of the rows, highlight the next 50 rows and delete them. It will change the last row to be 142.

EDIT: BTW, w/my rec, you have to actually delete those rows by right clicking on them and then selecting delete, it won't work if you just highlight the rows and hit the delete key.

If you save your file before importing to Access, it should then show the correct number of lines. Test using End-Home.

    Sambo Kid and alansidman,
Thought I had done those things, but apparently I had missed a step somewhere. Deleting the rows works perfectly, but only after you save the file. (I think that's the step I missed.) A big "hank you" to both of you.
