Populating cells based on row and column labels matching

Hi All,

having a bit of trouble trying to get excel to pick up text in one sheet (sheet 2) and populate cells in another (sheet 1) if the row (row 1) labels and columns (column a) in both sheets match. hope that makes sense? I've tried googling this to no avail, i've also tried index-match however i keep getting errors. many thanks in advance

Hi
the INDEX MATCH is the way to go. Perhaps post a small sample sheet to see what goes wrong?

Hi all just as an FYI in column H i tried the index-match but as you can see it doesn't seem to work, I'm trying to get the cells in sheet 1 from b1 to j51 populated with values from sheet 2 if the the values in column A and row a1 to j1 match in both sheets.
