OK let's try to explain this simply. I have two lists, my list in column A contains Meat, Fish, Vegetable and my list in Column B contains Beef, Lamb, Cod, Haddock, Carrot, Potato. I select Meat from the drop down data validation list. How can I then reduce the drop down list in Column B to be only Beef and Lamb?
Each of the particulars (beef, lamb, cod) need to be associated with their appropriate parent group. I'd suggest expanding Col A so that next to each item in Col B you have the appropriate parent group. Now all you have to do is filter the data, select the drop down in Col A, and choose your parent group. All associated particulars will be right there.
Here is a very simple example with drop down lists
