Automatic locking down cells after use - is it possible

    Hi
I am designing a car park rota on a spredsheet.
Each person has a limited number of spaces. Is it possible to automatically stop people going in and deleting out entries from previous weeks (to stop any cheating!) or would I have to manually go in at the end of each week and protect.

    Hi
Are you saying that one a name has been entered into a slot you want that slot protected from further changes?
If so what if someone wants to change a booking - how will that work?

    Hi Tony
Ideally I need it to work so that if they need to change a booking they speak to me and I do it for them. that way I can ensure no one is using spaces then deleting them from the history and taking more than they should (it will happen!!).
    Cheers.

    Hi
Can you let me have a copy of your template. You can use an automatic macro to lock a cell once an entry has been made into it.

    Here you go
It is the first tab I am trying to do this with. There are already data validation formulas in each cell.
    Thanks.

    Hi
Please find herewith a solution for your testing. There is code behind the worksheet that runs automatically when data is entered in a cell. To view this code right-click on the sheet tab and select View Code. The password is "secret".
To unprotect the sheet the password is also "secret".
    Hope this helps.
    Good luck.
