    Unreadable content

    Hello.

    I have an issue opening the file with a chart downloaded from MS template website (official). I edited the template and saved yesterday. I opened the file and said

    "Excel found unreadable content in 'XXX.xlsx'. Do you want to recover the content of this workbook? If you trust the source of this workbook, click Yes."

    Either Yes or No removes the chart I created. The error code is

    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="yes" ?>
    - <recoveryLog xmlns="http://schemas.openxmlformats.org/spreadsheetml/2006/main">
    <logFileName>error053000_01.xml</logFileName>
    <summary>Errors were detected in file 'C:\Documents and Settings\XXXX\My Documents\XXX.xlsx'</summary>
    - <removedParts summary="Following is a list of removed parts:">
    <removedPart>Removed Part: /xl/drawings/drawing1.xml part. (Drawing shape)</removedPart>
    </removedParts>
    </recoveryLog>

    I have no idea why it's happening. Actually I edited the chart last week and saved it too. I didn't have a problem yesterday to open the edited chart. Is there any ways to recover the removed chart?

    Thank you for your time, and help.

    Re: Unreadable content

    I had the same problem.
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="yes" ?>
    - <recoveryLog xmlns="http://schemas.openxmlformats.org/spreadsheetml/2006/main">
    <logFileName>error004280_01.xml</logFileName>
    <summary>Errors were detected in file 'xxx.xlsx'</summary>
    - <removedParts summary="Following is a list of removed parts:">
    <removedPart>Removed Part: /xl/drawings/drawing1.xml part. (Drawing shape)</removedPart>
    </removedParts>
    </recoveryLog>

    It removed the company logo. Does anyone have an Idea why it suddenly does not work any more and how to get it back to the original state?

    Thanks.

    Unhappy Re: Unreadable content

    Hi All,

    Did you get a resolution to your Excel problem?

    I am having exactly the same error. I have found that if I try and add a trend line to a line graph and then save the file and reopen that same file i get the unreadable content error. What ever I try and do from this point onwards results in the removal of all graphs on the excel sheet.

    If i do not put in a trend line then the sheet saves fine.......but the graph doesnt display as i need it to.

    I drilled down on the error and got the following error messages:

    Removed Part: /xl/drawings/drawing1.xml part. (Drawing shape)

    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="yes" ?>
    - <recoveryLog xmlns="http://schemas.openxmlformats.org/spreadsheetml/2006/main">
    <logFileName>error061080_01.xml</logFileName>
    <summary>Errors were detected in file 'C:\My Box Files\Default Sync Folder\Finance\REPORTING\Bet2Go Reports\Bet2Go Statistics Since Beginning.xlsx'</summary>
    - <removedParts summary="Following is a list of removed parts:">
    <removedPart>Removed Part: /xl/drawings/drawing1.xml part. (Drawing shape)</removedPart>
    </removedParts>
    </recoveryLog>

    Did any of you find a fix for this error in the end?

    Regards

    G

    Open your document as zip-archive, find "xl\drawings\drawing1.xml" and try to open it in any web-browser. If it says that there are some errors - you can try to fix them manually (xml format is not difficult). It could help you. Or try to find some recovery tool, that do it automatically.
