I'm sure this has been asked many times but I can't find a thread that says it in VERY simple terms (No VBA, etc.) I just want to add it to my excel 2010. How can I add a date picker in my spreadsheet, when the cell contains a date format????

A date picker will require VBA because it is not a built in feature of Excel.
If you are willing to go the VBA route, I have two options for you.

Here you go...
Microsoft Date and Time Picker Control is not a default setting made available in Excel 2007 and 2010.
Download the CAB File from the below link and just double click it which will copy the required files to the Ms-Office root directory.
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/297381
You can find the B]Microsoft Date and Time Picker Control[/B] On Developer Tab>>Insert>>Under Activex Controls>>Click More Controls and the list will have that control added.

Hi, I downloaded the Files from:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/297381
However when I click it says save and when I try to drop it in microsoft office it will not let me. I am using windows 8 and am the administrator.
What am I doing wrong?????
You need not to drop it anywhere…
Just download it and just do double click the Cab file which will automatically copy the data to the root directory…
When I double click it is says "Save To"
When I unzipped the insalation file this is what is on it;
; INF file for mscomct2.ocx
[DefaultInstall]
CopyFiles=install.files
RegisterOCXs=RegisterFiles
[DestinationDirs]
install.files=11
[install.files]
mscomct2.ocx=mscomct2.ocx

Whether you are getting it as mscomct2.cab when you download?
I am using Windows-XP which is taking the files to root directory on double click.
Please check whether microsoft is having some other file for Windows-8
mscomct2.cab is the file shown in the link you gave me?
Is the link correct?????
I thought you would have read that page...
Ok.. Try this direct link...
http://activex.microsoft.com/controls/vb6/MSCOMCT2.CAB
Back to it will not let me in error message below????
Extracting to "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\"
Use Path: yes Overlay Files: yes
Access is denied
Extracting mscomct2.ocx
Error extracting
Two Assumptions from my end…
You may not have permission to edit the C Drive Files.
Check the Microsoft Office Folder Destination.
Guess I wasn't meant to have a date picker in Excel, thanks for trying to help...........
No not like that.. I am running under Windows-XP so I am unable to fix and provide you the right solution since your’s is Windows-8.
I will call all the members help for your problem and your issue will be getting fixed soon.
All you have to do is just wait for couple of hours to get some assistance from them.
Try this addin by Ron de Bruin and John Walkenbach. The date picker will then be available when you right click a cell in a sheet
