Pasting Excel list segments to browser

A total newb here trying to transition from firefighting to something more suited to an old guy, hence I have an Excel question, no offense intended.

Is there a way to take a column of numbers, say UPC numbers, and break out each number separately to paste into a browser window for a web search?

    Would this require a macro?

If it's a column of numbers aren't they already separate?
If I've helped you, please consider adding to my reputation - just click on the liitle star at the left.

You can go to the Text to Columns feature in Excel. It allows you to delimit something by characters or if you want it broken out by fixed width it allows that as well. In Excel 2007 that feature is in the Data Ribbon, I am not sure where it is in 2010.

    Thanks,

Yes they are separate. I think I'm explaining poorly...what I need is to be able to highlight a long column of numbers, highlight all of them but paste them one by one into the browser window. As it is now when I highlight the coulmn numbers and paste into the web browser I obviously get the whole series of numbers from the column when what I need is to paste them one at a time by individual number, then move on to the next in the column.

I dont even know if this is a function of excel, I'm just clutching at straws for how to work through a long column of upc's and search for them on the web.

Maybe a browser add-on but I havent found one that does the trick.

    Any thoughts would be appreciated

    Hi Rocks,

Here's a macro which will copy the ActiveCell (the one you've highlighted) and then move to the next cell down thus making it active.

Please Login or Register to view this content.
    Copy this code

Save your Workbook or Another Workbook designated for Macros as Macro_Enabled

Select the View Tab on the ribbon and click the dropdown under macros, choose record macro

Name it C_Macro (or anything that you like) - type Shift + c in the key spot and then OK

then paste this code - you may need to delete a superfluous "End Sub"

and go back to View - Macros and Stop Recording

Now when you hit Ctrl+Shift+c the macro will play and you can paste into the browser window

If you provide an example of what you are after it may help too.
