    Excel 2007 show/hide status bar

    Hi folks
Apologies in advance for how basic this question is here but I am pulling out my hair in frsutration at the moment trying to get a handle on Excel 2007.
I have a workbook that has been imported from Excel 2003 and within the VBA is a command that "hides" the status bar.
What I want to know is how can I manually "unhide" the status bar?
I can't seem to find any option on the ribbon (incl "View" > "Show/Hide"*)
    Neither in the "Excel Options"
Can somebody please put me out of my misery?
    Many thanks in advance
    Andy
    * Only options showing are "Ruler", "Formula Bar", "Gridlines", "Headings" and "Messgae Bar"

There doesn't seem to be an option to turn it off, but if you right click on it you can turn items off you don't want displayed
