    Conditional Formatting a Linked Cell

    Hi,

I am wondering if someone can help me please?

I have a worksheet that pulls data from 4 others all with different workbook names. In each of the 4 worksheets there is a column with a conditional format that contains 4 different conditional formats/color returns but when these 4 sheets have been linked to my one main report worksheet they do not seem to pull through the conditional formats/colors which I really need them to do. I also cannot set up a new conditional format as the linked cells contain a value.

    Hope that made sense?!

    Can anyone help?

Well, no, not really. I would have expected the CF in the cell to reflect the value in the cell, regardless of where it came from. In all honesty, I haven't put it to the test but I can't see why it would work differently. obviously, if the workbooks are linked, the CF will reflect the data from the last time the links were updated.

I might well be wrong, though.

    Thanks for the response TMS.

My apologies that I maybe didn't explain it properly. I am getting a return of the data in this case it is a set of dates that is entered from the 4 different worksheets linked through to the one 'main' worksheet
they are all linked to the only thing that is not linking is the colours that are contained within that cell. I have attached an example below which I hope makes better sense?!#

This is an example of one of the 4 worksheets

and this is how it appears on the linked worksheet

    Many thanks again ...

A link gets you the data. You then decide how it is presented, that is, how it is formatted. And, I would expect, you could use the same CF conditions in the linked workbook as you do in the source workbooks.

As I said, not something I have put to the test.
