    Predictive function input

Seems to be a simple question, but I can't come up with the right search terms...

When typing a function into a cell, excel predicts what I am typing. How do I select one of the predictions so I do not have to type the full function name?

For example, I type "=av", and then I would like a simple keystroke to select average without finishing the word. I suppose this predictive nature could just be for confirming what I am typing is actually a function, but I would like to believe there is some additional functionality there.

It seems so trivial, but after years of my chicken pecking at the keyboard I cringe to think how much time I may have wasted

I can't believe I haven't tried that. I keep trying to treat it like a web browser I guess.

    Thanks!
