    Cell data disappears

I'm using MS Office 07 Excel for my medical records. Somewhere recently in my spreadsheet, a setting has changed which causes existing data in a cell to temporarily disappear (white out) while I'm entering new data in the cell directly below. Once the data has been typed and "entered" the other data (cell above) reemerges.

This did not occur for the first 20 (or so) sheet rows but now happens as I add new data into additional rows. So far, I've been unable to determine which setting is different for the first 20 rows.

    Thank you.

    Re: Cell data disappears

This sounds to me like a screen refresh problem rather than a problem with Excel. Make sure that the graphics driver is up to date.

You don't mention the size of the workbook in MB and if there is a lot of formatting. If the workbook is large with lots of formatting and calculations, the computer might be reaching the limit of what it can easily handle.

    Re: Cell data disappears

Did the OP find a solution to this, I have been Googling in desperation and ended up here.

I have exactly the same problem, it's not a screen refresh issue as it works as it should on 3 out of 4 of my worksheets in the same file (ie the text/data in the cell above is visible as I type in the cell below). On one worksheet only, when I type in one cell, the data in the cell above is blanked out. This is a small file, 30k and has no formulas in it apart from some autosums (I am doing my personal business accounts for a very small business).

Am worried I have somehow hit a keyboard shortcut by mistake and that somewhere down the line the cell data is going to be wrong when I come to start adding all the figures together.

Any ideas? Excel is my least favourite software, seems you can make one mistake and then it's pretty much impossible to figure out what you've done?

    Re: Cell data disappears

Additional info: it only appears to be doing this on the data I am entering today. If I copy and paste the data anywhere else, the problem doesn't happen.

My solution for now has been to cut the data, paste it a few rows down, and then delete the rows where the data was previously located, which seems a long winded way of solving the issue. This has got rid of it, but I wish I knew what started it in the first place to prevent it happening again...
