Excel Embedded Spread sheet object in Power point problem

Hi there, I'm studying an IT course and I've spent the last 2-3 hours trying to figure out what the answer for this is and I am really incredibly stuck, would somebody please be able to help me or even give me a hint in the right direction?

The question is

Henry Smith from another branch has sent Anna Chong a PowerPoint presentation via e-mail. She can open and read all the data in the document, but she cannot edit an Excel spreadsheet object that has been included in the presentation. When she tries, she gets an error message saying that the server application, source file or item cannot be found. Excel is definitely installed on Anna's PC.

a) Explain why Anna can't edit the data

I'm almost positive that the assignment wants me to research the answer on the Internet but I've been searching and searching and I can't seem to find a solution, if nobody can give me the answer could you atleast tell me what I should be googling? Because I have to provide atleast two resources I used to find the solution and I kind of think I know the answer but I can't find any resources to put into my assignment (assuming it is the correct answer).

Help would be very much appreciated, thanks in advance.

The description of the problem is almost identical to your description.

Well I don't know if it is or not but I don't understand it so I can't answer the question or give reference because I have no idea what the hell I'm talking about...

I notice your location is Australia so i'm guessing this may be one of those up till 2am assignments and the frustration is kicking!

The issue in this scenario is highly likely to be that Anna has Office 2003 installed on her computer. However, the file was created in Office 2007 or later. This has created an incompatibility.

Simple as that. Then use the link i sent you as your reference!

Well, the question just asks you to explain what the problem actually is, the "fix" isnt really a fix but a workaround:

a) Open the File on a computer with Office 2007 or later installed

b) If this isn't possible she will have to recreate the object on her version of Excel 2003 and, delete the original embedded object and re-insert her new one.

a) Explain why Anna can't edit the data.
b) Write an email to Henry what steps he needs to do to enable Anna to edit the Excel object in the PowerPoint file. This email should have email headers: From, To, Subject, Date; and your contact details at the end of the email.
c) Provide the list of resources you used to find the solution. Use at least 2 sources.
