    Help with subtotaling

    Hi,
On the attached worksheet, I have subtotaled the Mkt Reps in order to count the number of referrals they have provided in a month.
I also sorted by the Mkt Rep to alphabetise the referral source.
What I am also trying to do, is get count of each referral source associated with each Mkt Rep.
So for instance, (using attached wkst)

    Mktg Rep = Burns
    Total Referrals =39
    # Referrals from Aberjona for Burns =?
    # Referrals from Berenson = ?
I guess I am trying to subtotal a subtotal...

Any ideas on how to achieve what I am looking for?
    Much appreciated.

Janie, another approach would be to make 2 unique lists - 1 of market reps, and 1 of referral sources, and using the following formula, you can get a count of refs for each rep:

Have a look at the attached, which I hope helps.

This pivot works perfectly, but is well beyond my skills. Something I definitely need to develop...would make my life much easier.
    Thank you.

Sorry, my prior reply should have been sent to the first responder to my thread.
This option worked for what I wanted and although it took a little longer to set up than a pivot table, I could understand the process and duplicate it.
    Thank you for your help.

    Brendan,
    Those comments were for you.
The pivot table oeldere sent although it worked, was way too complicated for me.
Your response was what I was looking for. Thanks again!

    @Janie

If you want to learn pivot table, which is a very, very strong skilli, you best learn it on a small table.

It looks difficult to you, but in fact it's realy easy to learn.

Just drag and drop the columns in the boxes and see what happens.

    And than try again.

If you have questions or comments on this item, just ask or comment.
