    Excel copying/pasting differently

    Hi
For years I have selected non adjacent cells in one spreadsheet to copy to another (petty cash to VAT)
    Typically E5, G5
    E8:E15, G8:G15 etc
This has then pasted beautifully into VAT spreadsheet.

Recently though, I select cells as above, but when it pastes, ALL cells are pasted (i.e. E5:E15 & G5:G15)
This is very frustrating as I then have to go through deleting all the cells I didn't want.

Any ideas how to get around this?
    Thanks

Select the data and press Alt+; before doing the copy process

    Hi
    Thanks for prompt reply
    Please clarify
Is that press Alt & + & ; & should they be held down? I have tried a couple of combinations & couldn't get it to do what I wanted (why has it changed anyway? Used to be just fine!)
Sorry if I am being a bit dim (also Alt & ; are opposite sides of keyboard, so nearly impossible to press both together & either use mouse or ctrl, c to copy

    Re: Excel copying/pasting differently

pressing the Alt+; before doing the copy process will just select the visible cells alone. So it copy any hidden (row) cells when applying the copy process.
