    Exclamation Matching and Sorting with Two Columns

    I am trying to 'stagger sort' multiple columns, but am having some difficulties.
    Ex.
    Say A and B are lists of part no and C is data corresponding to column B. I have:
    A B C
    1 2 .
    2 3 ,
    4 4 ;
    5 7 '
    8 9 "

    I want:
    A B C
    1 _ _
    2 2 .
    _ 3 ,
    4 4 ;
    5 _ _
    _ 7 '
    8 _ _
    _ 9 "
    (the _ are just supposed to be empty place holders, without them I have formatting issues)

    Is there a 'quick' way to sort them this way?
    I am attaching the actual file that I am working with.

    Re: Matching and Sorting with Two Columns

    If its not too much trouble, could you assist me in applying a similar solution to the one provided in http://www.excelforum.com/excel-gene...o-columns.html to my issue?
    When I try, I simply end up making extra columns and deleting random bits of information.

    Re: Matching and Sorting with Two Columns

    The LineEmUp macro on that other thread was custom designed to match rows with like value in ascending order. I've looked at your attachment and it doesn't seem to be that at all.

    Your sample workbook only need 10-20 rows of data to be usable. With that, look at the data and make sure your sample workbook has two sheets in it, a BEFORE and AFTER. I'd think we'd be seeing duplicate values in columns A and B that are not aligned in BEFORE, and are now aligned in AFTER.

    I have attached two copies of the workbook, a Before and an After.
    Thank you.

    Assuming:

    1) Data starts in row1
    2) Columns A:C only are used

    Try this on a copy of your data, it uses columns E:H to quickly make a unique match table:
