    Sorting a Column by Time

    Hello everyone,

I am trying to sort a column so it'd be like a schedule the earliest time on top and latest on the bottom. I understand it is a form of custom listing but I am not quite sure what is the way to enter that list entry...attached is my excel spreadsheet I am currently working on.

    Thanks in advance.schedule.xlsx

Why can not you use the sort function?

My sort function doesn't seem to offer earliest time on top :S. It seems to have to be a formula or a custom entree.

Re: Sorting a Column by Time

Those values in the second column are not times (numbers between 0.0 and 0.999...), they are string values

Re: Sorting a Column by Time

The "time" column is not usable without a lot of surgery. You should redo it putting start and end times in separate columns.

Heh, came to that conclusion after a lot of head banging. Should've been obvious. Thanks for the reply none the less.

Re: Sorting a Column by Time

Add another help column to sort.
    C2
    =TIMEVALUE(IFERROR(LEFT(B2,FIND("-",B2)-1) &" "& RIGHT(B2,2),LEFT(B2,LEN(B2)-2) & " "&RIGHT(B2,2)))
drag down. Use sort feature in column C.
    See attached.
