Start menu shortcut to Excel file malfunctions after moving the file to My Documents

I had a start menu shortcut to an Excel file that worked without issue when the file was in a personal (not My Documents) folder.

After moving the Excel file to My Documents and creating a new shortcut, the file will open but only after several error messages are closed.

All the error messages are similar; the first one is:

    Error.jpg

After closing it, the same popup again appears except it says 'and.xls' instead of 'C:\Documents.xls'
    Then another saying 'Settings\Owner\My.xls'
And the final one saying 'Documents\Acct.xls'

After closing the last popup, the file opens normally.

This does not occur with Word, Notepad etc. files.

    Any help appreciated!

Did you look at the shortcut properties to make sure the parth is correct?

Yep, the file is Acct.xls and the target and start-in paths are:

    "C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\My Documents\Acct.xls"
    "C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\My Documents"

I pasted the path to a BAT file, and the shortcut to it works fine... but I'd rather use a legit shortcut than a BAT workaround.

Unregistering and re-registering Excel solved it -- No more 'not found' errors whether launching directly or from the shortcut.
