Advanced Conditinal Formatting

I would like to format a list of numbers accordingly:

1. If the number is negative, use a dark red, red, light red, three color scale conditional formatting rule.

2. If the number is positive, use a light green, green, dark green three color scale conditional formatting rule.

The problem i has it that it only uses one or the other, not both. How would i get it to pick one over the other based on cell value?

PS. if you are going to ask for a sample workbook then just copy this into a new workbook

Perhaps use a 3-color scale and set the middle color to white.

Data bar is also an option.

See attached file. Each of the two types shown have various appearance options that can be changed.

jhren, OP's profile suggests 2003, Im not sure 2003 has that option, and they might not be able to open that file.

@ Gaiden, you may not get too many offers of help with a comment like...
PS. if you are going to ask for a sample workbook then just copy this into a new workbook
1 of the reasons we ask for a sample workbook (apart from you helping us to help you), is so that we can see what excel version you are using, and tailor suggestions accordingly. I know your profile says 2003, but some members forget to update their profile
1. Use code tags for VBA.
Your Code
(or use the # button)
2. If your question is resolved, mark it SOLVED using the thread tools
3. Click on the star if you think someone helped you

Point taken. New to forum and not accustomed to nuances with poster's having another version. That said, youer profile says you have 2003. Does it have the features or not?

Or did you forget to update your profile?

I think that I accomplished what you want. I used a three colour scheme and set 0 as white.
