    Scramble Text and Decode

    Is there a way to scramble text in excel, lets say the first 6 characters of text.

    Then, take each scrambled letter and assign a new letter to it to make it even more difficult to decode. Example, H=I, O=Z, T=P, D=F, G=U

    Example. The word HOTDOG to TOOGHD then to finally to PZZUIF

    Hoping that I can build a decoder than can then take the PZZUIF to HOTDOG in one step, or if I have to go from PZZIUF to TOOGHD then back to HOTDOG.

    Thanks :-)

    Re: Scramble

    I forgot to finish my Subject, and I don't see how I can change it...

    I meant it to read "Scramble Text and Decode"

    If any admins can do that, or let me know how I can.

    Please and thank you

    Hi uncle,

    Look at the attached that has a lookup table and uses VLookup and Index/Match formulas to scramble your letters up and unscramble them again. Hope this is what you wanted.

    Re: Scramble Text and Decode

    In cell A1 I can put the letters "H O T D O G" to match conversion based on the formula's in F and G to "P F U H F L." Any way you can make it so I can put P F U H F L to bring back to H O T D O G if I don't know what the original word was? Perhaps in Column D I can type the P F U H F L and column C will decode to H O T D O G.

    Any way I can then further scramble the P F U H F L to mix the letters around in a set formula, then still have a way to decode it to back to the original H O T D O G? Example, the first letter moves to the last letter, the second letter moves to the 3rd letter and so on.

    I want to build something that is more difficult to figure out. If someone figures out that G=L and H=P and so on, they could easily figure it. If I change letters AND scramble, it would be near impossible for someone to figure it out.

    let me know!
