Help with creating new tables from existing ones

First off, I'm new to excel, so I don't know the terminology for many different things. This prevents me from knowing how to search up problems that I'm having.

Well, I've got a table with a few thousand records that looks like this:

    \1

There are 2 tables I want to derive from this, but have no clue how to do it.

    A) A table that has the column showing the Names of the players, and next to it, a column showing how many seasons they've played.
    B) A table that lists the Name of a player, and next to it, the name of the player on his team that year that scored the most FanPts

Perhaps some hints that can help you guys help me:

    A: seems simple
    - As you can see, the number of seasons a player has played is equal to the number of entries found for that player!

    B: more complicated!
    - maybe this will take more than one table to complete?
    - sounds like this will need a lot of looking up and IF statements..
    - look up team name of player, look up year, then look up who scored most fantasy points, then return name of player who scored that?

Well, i hope this isn't too much to ask for, and hopefully the leads i've thought of can spark an idea of how to do this. I'm sure the first table won't be difficult for some of the experts out there. But i can only hope for the second table :/

Re: Help with creating new tables from existing ones

    Hi Dryeth

Sorry, but I think I got a bit carried away on this one.

As you suggested, the first table was a bit easy, so I've shown the number of seasons, but also added the range of years that were played (and then shown if there were any breaks.

Again, apologies for the second sheet - no "if" statements were used (if you ignore the "iferror" statements)
To get the figures you asked for was OK, and needed no macro. But then I realised that you need a system for updating for any new players. This I have achieved by a macro. I have attempted to explain how it works, but feel free to ask about it.

To use the second sheet, you need to enter the season that you are interested in and the figures will populate the sheet, highlighting the highest team score and showing the highest team scorer.

I think I've covere all your points, but if not - let me know

    Regards
    Alastair
