Hi, Jack
Would you try following step
1> remove or hiddhen visible commnet of cells
2> delete right rest blank column
Hi and welcome to the forum
is that file password protected? Even if it allows you top open it, it may still be protected and preventing you from making certain edits?
@Careless, please explain what you mean in your post, your instructions are unclear to me?
1. Use code tags for VBA.
Your Code
(or use the # button)
2. If your question is resolved, mark it SOLVED using the thread tools
3. Click on the star if you think someone helped you

@ FDibbins,
Careless assumed that the rows and column of OP file may be kept hidden and Careless thought that there may be data in the end column or end row in that case excel won't allow us to insert new column or row![]()

Hi Thnx for response ... I deleted the rows after the last line and also the columns to the right of the last column. I'm not sure if there is anything "hidden"?
Still awaiting for the answer from you for the question asked by FDibbins in post #3 (Sheet Protection), can you please confirm it![]()
Hi and thanks for the welcome! No, it's not password protected. I think the worksheets may be corrupted. They are daily sheets and about a week ago I noticed the date was, for example, 30 March 1900!! Instead of 2013. All the worksheets after that dated have the problem ... all the worksheets before that date are Ok.
Apologies, I should have mentioned that before.
Jack K
Is it a formula cells which determines the Date?
No - I update the worksheets daily and put the date in manually. Something happened about 10 days ago ... I remember receiving a warning advice [can't remember the details] from Google that my computer time clock was 1900. It happened on the morning boot-up and when I opened Google Chrome. I changed and corrected it and assumed everything was Ok. It must have been on that day that the MS excel worksheet changed to the year 1900 - but I didn't notice it on the worksheet for several days.
Jack K
What is the date your system showing currently?
As mentioned, it was updated a few days ago and is current and correct.
Progress report: By process of trial and elimination, I found by removing one particular sheet row, everything works fine - can add lines and columns. When I put that line back, the problem comes back.
I'm going to eliminate one cell at a time and maybe I can isolate the problem to a single cell ...

Please attach that workbook if possible and ensure that it is not having any confidential data![]()
Well, I took the coward's way out! Adapted a previous worksheet from the beginning of March 2013 [which was unaffected], updated the data and it's working fine.
Glad you fixed it and thanks for the feedback![]()
HiSixthsense
- didn't really fix it as such ... but took the easy way out!
Thanks for your interest.

PS ... I'm new to the forum. How do I mark the thread Solved?
Thank you ... Done. Easy when you know how - impossible if you don't!
