Unhappy Column Width Format Lost after Save and reopen in .xlsm file

    Hey Guys,

I need some help. I have a file that is used on 3 computers. This file is a .xlsm file with visual basic code. It is a protected file that only allows certain cells to be edited. Currently on 2 of the computers it opens fine. On the third computer, when we open the file, the column widths lose all the formatting. So now when it goes to print, there are pages that are half the right page and half of the next page. Any ideas on where to go with this computer on why it won't open the file with the right formatting? Are there some settings on the computer that are overwriting the form? THANKS!

    Hi,

Not sure what you mean by half the right page and half the next page. When you say 'right' do you mean the 'correct' page or literally the 'right' as opposed to 'left' page whatever that may be. Perhaps a picture might help.

Also do all the computers have the same Excel version? i.e. 2007/2010 or is the third computer using 2003.

Incidentally if you have 2007/2010/2013 you should update your profile which currently says 2003.

    Richard,

Sorry for the confusion. To answer your question, when looking at the page, the correct page is showing on only have the page and the next page is showing on the other half. We are all using office 2007. I will update my profile now.

    Hi,

I'm still not understanding what you mean by the 'correct' page and 'showing only half a page.

Are there any Custom Views involved?

You say the workbook has macros. What are those macros? Might they be doing something different when the third user opens the file. Perhaps upload the workbook and a picture of what it is you see and what you want to see.

basically when going to print page 2, it shows half of page 2 and half of page 3 in print preview. the columns were set to a specific width when created and when this computer opens them, they go back to the default. I cannot upload an example because of private company information.

    Hi,

...and what are the macros doing?

You'll appreciate it's difficult to comment in a case like this if we can't see what you are looking at. Can't you anonymise the data and then upload a picture of the errant view and the workbook.
