Excel Freezing when entering data in some columns

Hi,

I know this is a very loose question, but does anyone have any good tips for resolving a "not responding" problem that occurs when I try to enter data into a cell in one of two columns in my spreadsheet. These columns don't seem to be linked and I can't see a way of getting at where the problem might be coming from.

Is there a tried and tested method for trouble shooting something like this?

The only times I have this issue is if 1) the file is massive and 2) there's a ton of calculations. In either case, you might try setting the formulas to Manual and see if that helps. By default, it's set to Automatic and every time you input anything, it will recalculate the whole spreadsheet.

Thank you. I'll try that on the broken one. In the end I went back to an earlier version and tested each change until I had the completed job. This time it all worked so perhaps it was just one of those things.
