    Matching columns

    Hi There

I have a spreadsheet attached. In columns B,C,D,E, F and G I have one set of date. In columns H,I,J,K and L I have another set of data.

Both sets of data have the invoice number in common this begins with an I in columns B and H.

I am trying to find a formula that will match both sets of data by invoice number.

The reason I need to do this is that the first set of data are invoices from the website and the second set of data are invoices in the accounts system and what I need to do is match the invoice number and then check the values to see if they are the same. There are more invoice numbers in the second set of data so I cannot just sort by column B then H.

If any one is able to help that would be much appreciated.

Attached is a copy of the spreadsheet. If you need more information please let me know

    Thank youxero and lightspeed.xls

    Re: Matching columns

This can probably be done by using the vlookup function. What you don't tell us however is what fields do you wish to compare.

Look here for syntax on the vlookup

Enter this in K2 and copy down the length of your data:
