I'm looking for some help with recovering Excel files that have completely disappeared.
I was working on fairly large Excel file (~100mb), saved it to Desktop, and closed it. Immediately after that, I opened a different Excel file of similar size, but as it was opening, Windows Explorer crashed. Explorer restarted itself and now both the files are missing without any trace that it existed.
Autorecover is set to save every 10 minutes, but there are no recovery files. I've tried checking the Drive:\User\Name\Appdata\... file path, but to no avail. The file names don't result in any hits when I try a Windows search of my hard drive.
Both files were .xlsx files being used in Excel 2007
Is there any way to recover these files, or am I s.o.l? Any direction, info, recovery methods, etc you could provide would be appreciated as recovering the files would save me two days of work.
