So, I've been playing around with this for a few days and realized that, though I do have some (very) basic excel knowledge, I can't get this spreadsheet set up how I want it to. My buddy and I are huge fantasy baseball (and baseball in general) nuts, and we like to run thru a few mock drafts before our actual draft. Let me lay down the groundwork of what I'm trying to do here (I'll assume that if you're reading this thread, I can use fantasy terminology... and I apologize if this is fairly long):
I basically have two sheets here: 1) the player rankings by position, 2) the mock draft board (24 rounds) with a matrix for each team next to that.
Here is what I'd like to happen: once a player is selected in the draft, that player gets put in to the team matrix in the associated position slot... also, in the rankings, I'd like that player's name to get a strike-through or the cell filled in with a color (to show that he has been selected). I haven't gotten very far on my own trying to decipher how to do this. I figured that each pick in the mock draft would have to come from a drop down menu - what I did was I created two data validations... one being the position and then dependent on the position, the list would have the players at that position. That's about all I got. I'm not sure if this is even the best way to do it. Also, I was trying to do conditional formatting as to show the selected players in the rankings, but I only got it to work for the first pick... I can't figure out how to do that condition for every pick in the draft.
I mean, if possible, I'd like it so that once a player is selected, that player's name doesn't show as an option in the drop down list. I'm not sure if I'm explaining myself correctly, but if you are interested in helping (and like fantasy baseball), I'd greatly appreciate some tutelage in setting this up. Thanks so much!
