Hi there,

My problem is the very annoying message: filename.xlsx is already open. Reopening will cause any changes you made to be discarded. Do you want to reopen filename.xlsx? It pops up every time I open one particular Excel file - thankfully, the other files haven't been contaminated.

Despite spending a good hour searching the net for a solution, I didn't come across with the right one. I've already tried: File>Options>Advanced>General and then ticked the "Ignore other applications that used DDE" box, but it gets worst, perhaps because I'm not following the steps in the right order. Indeed, if I then save the file, exit Excel and then reopen it, this error msg comes up: "There was a problem in sending the command to the program", and that appears every time I open whatever Excel file by double-clicking on it. The only way to get rid of it is to untick the DDE box. Going back to the main message, the only (temporary) solution I managed to find is to open an Excel window from the Start menu and then open the file from there instead of simply double-clicking, but this is not ideal since the file will be shared - I guess the problem is at file level, and the msg would pop up also using other machines.

Any help will be very much appreciated.

Thanks!
