    Conditional Formatting

    Hello,

I'd like some help with a conditional formatting issue.

    1. I enter some text e.g. ART in a cell (perhaps A1)

I would like excel to find all the ART cells in a certain range and highlight them (red).

But I would like to be able to change that cell to (GEO) and the excel highlights all the GEO cells in the same range?

    Thank you,

    mhartle

    Re: Conditional Formatting

    Try

    Conditional Formatting
    • Highlight applicable range >> A2:H100
    • Home Tab >> Styles >> Conditional Formatting
    • New Rule >> Use a formula to determine which cells to format
    • Edit the Rule Description: Format values where this formula is true: =A2=$A$1
    • Format… [Number, Font, Border, Fill]
    • OK >> OK

    Re: Conditional Formatting

Select all the cells in the range A1:I20 or whatever.

    Use a CF formula: =AND($A$1<>"",A1<>"",$A$1=A1) ... and pick a format/colour.

Cell A1 and any matching cells will be highlighted. A1 will clearly match $A$1 so, as soon as data is entered into A1, it will be highlighted.

    Re: Conditional Formatting

Note that, with Jeff's formula, when A1 is blank, all blank cells in the range will be highlighted

    Re: Conditional Formatting

Highlight C3:F10 and then the condition is =C3=$C$2
