Trying to turn abbreviated words into their full words

I am awfully sorry if this is the wrong way to post for a solution but I am new to this and have just signed in, in need of a solution to my problem.

On to the topic, I have all the US and Canadian states abbreviated (CO = Colorado, etc.) and was wondering if there is a way to make all of them convert to their respective names in one fell swoop instead of writing it in for each one, one at a time. Something along the lines where I can make, CO = Colorado, TX = Texas and then hit enter and all of the abbreviations would convert. Some kind of command.

Thank you in advance for any help.

    Cheers,
    Daengel

You will probably want to use VLOOKUP. put your list of state in column B, and the full name will be returned in C if you have the info in the lookup table to the right.

    Hi

You could use the autocorrect function
go to file -> options -> proofing -> autocorrect options
enter CO in the replace box, enter Colorado in the with box, click on add
click Ok to close the options dialogue box.
then when you type CO in a cell it will be replaced with Colorado when you press enter. you can then do the same with the other states you are using.

    Hope this helps
