Help on a hostname generator...

I work in a large hospital and our naming convention for hostnames is a bit difficult to show new hires. I am a novice at Excel but I have been working on a generator to automatically pump out hostnames very easily. I have run into a problem with what I want to do.

If you take a look at the attached excel file you'll see in the second worksheet that the hostname cell is basically combining text from each of the other cells to form a hostname. Each of the cells, such as "Building Code, Department Code" has a dropdown list. What I'm wanting to do is to have the dropdown list display the full name of the code, but insert the abbreviated version of the code into the final formula for the hostname.

So I would choose "Hospital" but it would input the code "H" into the hostname.
