Formula working in one computer but not on another...HELP

I have a Age calculating formula in an excell cell, which calculates the age as on another date.
The forumala is =IF(E4="","",IF($C$1="","",ROUNDDOWN(($C$1-E4)/365,0))) where E4 is the date of birth and C1 is the date in which I want the age calculated to be.

The above formula works very well on my computer, but does not on any other computer. If I access it from my sent items or from a shared drive, it works perfectly on mine, but not on any other computer!!! I get a #value error message on all other computers.

    I have tried the foll:
If i enter =ISNUMBER(C1) where the age has to be calculated, I get #Name?
    If I enter =ISNUMBER(E4), i get TRUE
The above is on the sheet where it does not work ( on others computer ) and i get TRUE for both on mine.
Also both have the same date formats and same time zones...

    Pls help!

    Thanks.

    Hi

Can you upload a sample to see if we can replicate the situation.

    To Attach a File:

    1. Click on Go Advanced
    2. In the frame Attach Files you will see the button Manage Attachments
    3. Click the button.
    4. A new window will open titled Manage Attachments - Excel Forum.
    5. Click the Browse... button to locate your file for uploading.
    6. This will open a new window File Upload.
    7. Once you have located the file to upload click the Open button. This window will close.
    8. You are now back in the Manage Attachments - Excel Forum window.
    9. Click the Upload button and wait until the file has uploaded.
    10. Close the window and then click Submit.

I can't open your file - it's password protected - can you upload a version without password?

C1 currently has a text value DD.MM.YY - if I put this formula in there

    =TODAY()

and I put my dob in E4 I get the correct age with that formula (although DATEDIF will be more accurate I think)

Are you putting a valid date in C1? Are you using a formula for that like I did?

Thanks...I cannot have =TODAY() in C1 as the age has to be caluculated based on the day in C1, which would mostly be a date in the future. So I am not using any formula in C1 and i do enter a proper date.....

OK that works for me too, so if it doesn't work for you it may be some computer setting - your profile says Excel 2003 - is that the version you are using?

How are you entering the date exactly? With slashes like 1/1/2013 or some other way?

This is within an office environment and hence all of us have the same excell version. I enter the date in dd.mm.yy and have also tried dd/mm/yy and both do not work...

The problem for me (and probably anybody here) is that I can't see any problem with the sheet. You need to enter a date in C1 in an acceptable date format for your region. For me that means entering a date in C1 with slashes (amongst others), e.g. 1/1/2001. I can't enter as 1.1.2001 otherwise excel sees that as text (although it might be different for you), either way I get TRUE or FALSE for ISNUMBER(C1), I don't get NAME?

Can you confirm which version of Excel you are using?

Are you using UK regional settings?
