    Exclamation Always calculating

    Why it is that my excel work sheet always "Processor Calculating". It takes long time to process the calculation. What was wrong?

    Re: Always calculating

    without the file it's difficult to say.

    maybe it is a huge file of calculations?

    in that case you can put te calculations to manual.

    excel 2007 => formula => countoptions.
    Notice my main language is not English.

    I appreciate it, if you reply on my solution.

    Re: Always calculating

    Indeed this is a big file. I used to work with many big excel files but I don't encounter this problem. It makes me wonder what I did wrong to this file.. I tried the formula =>option => manual. I find this very time consuming as it does not calculate automatically when I modify or put formula.

    Re: Always calculating

    Maybe you used a function to look up in the whole column (e.g. B:B) instead of a range (e.g. b1:b1500).

    But without any file or formula, it's hard to tell.

    Pepe, What do you mean by volatile function and array formulas.. Is there a way how to examine if the formula or array is volatile?

    An introduction to array formulas

    Note that large workbooks containing many VLOOKUPS will also slow things down. According to various sources the INDEX/MATCH combination is faster and needs less resources
