    Conditional Formatting over multiple pages

    Hi,

I need some help with setting up a conditional rule over 2 pages.

Page 1 displays a list of countries.

Page 2 pulls in the RSS feed from the BBC World News website.

I need to find a way to set a rule that will highlight the country on page 1 if it is mentioned anywhere in page 2.

Please can someone help me creating this rule as i just can't seem to find a way to make excel do it.

    Regards

    Mark

    Hi Mark,

    Welcome to the forum.
It would be more time / resource consuming using conditional formatting (formulas)... hence suggest you to be open for a macro where after listing down countries in page 1, macro will check (ctrl + F) if that name is available in sheet 2 and if yes, it will highlight the name in sheet 1

Re: Conditional Formatting over multiple pages

    Thanks DILIPAndey,

Ideally it needs to be able to run in the background and update every hour. Is there no way to do it?

EDIT: and also has to be able to highlight multiple countries at the same time.

    I.e Page one lists

    Egypt
    Pakistan
    Russia
    South Africa
    Ukraine
    Poland
    Hungary
    Estonia
    Bosnia

If page 2 (which updates automatically every minute) contains news about Egypt and Russia then both will automatically be highlighted in page one to alert me that the new story has come in.

    Regards

    Mark

Re: Conditional Formatting over multiple pages

    Thanks!

It does send the spreadsheet crazy running macros across the whole spreadsheet on page 1 - How can i limit the macro to just search rows 10 and 11 on page one. and Just columns Q and R on page 2?

Hopefully limiting the macro to these should reduce the time it takes

Thanks again for your help on this one.

    Kind Regards

    Mark

Re: Conditional Formatting over multiple pages

    EDIT: Almost perfect! Thankyou

When the countries are no longer showing on page 2 the cells in page one stay yellow regardless.
