Spreadsheet has disappeared,

Firstly, may I introduce myself. My name is Steve and I didnt even realise this forum exsisted and now I know I will be on here all the time getting tips instead of guessing that I am doing it correctly..lol.

Anyway, my first problem is..........

My spreadsheet with all my accounts, sales etc has disappeared. Yep, I havent backed it up for past few weeks :-(

I closed it as normal and it has just disappeared. I have tried restore from a few days ago but still no luck.

I have searched the pc and found the file but when I try to open it I get "The Item 'accounts master.xls' that this shortcut refers to has been changed or moved, so this shortcut will no longer work properly.
Do you want to delete this shortcut?

I have searched the recycling bin and although the file appears in the search I simply cant open it.

any help would very much be appreciated

This is more of an operating system problem as opposed to one specific to Excel. It might help to submit your question to a forum which deals with operating systems is you don't get an answer here.

files dont just disappear. is that the only file you cant find, or are there others?

how and where did you search? what OS are you using? if windows, go into windows explorer, select "my computor"

rt-click on my computor, select search/files and folders, and try by 1st searching on the full file name and extention. if that doesnt work, try just the name.* then just the extention *.xl then search by parts of the file name eg filena*.* file*.* fi*.* etc
