Need help with VLOOKUP name matching

Hi, I have 2 lists of names of companies in two different columns in excel. Both are lists of names of companies. The second list is much shorter than the first, and all of the names on the second should appear somewhere on the first. Both are ordered alphabetically. I want to match the names of the second to its name on the first. The problem is the names may be spelled differently: for example on list 1 it may appear as "First Fund, Incorporated" while on the second its "1st Fund inc." Any advice on how to match these as accurately with VLOOKUP or something else? thanks!

Hi

Sorry mate dont think it will work as examples are totally different. Only thing I can suggest to start with is copy your workbook and then on the copy try the find and replace to get them all exactly the same then post a sample.
