    Locking Panes Horizontially and Vertically

    Hey Folks,

I'm trying to lock the cells of my work book both vertically and horizonatlly. There are "header criteria" on both colums and rows that I want to lock so when you scroll down or over the title bars stay. When I've done it in the past it won't let me lock both correctly.

    1. Make sure everything is unfrozen.
    2. select the cell where you will want scrolling to be enabled. For example if you want to freeze the first column and the first row, select A2
    3. Freeze panes.
    Does that work for you?

To freeze more than one column or row you have to apply split first then apply freeze.
In your case you want to freeze both first two rows and first two columns so do it as follows
    1. Put your cursor in cell (C3)
    2. Click Split
    3. Click Freeze Panes

Not quite. That does not allow me to freeeze multiple things i.e. bot the column and row headers.

If you select C3, you will freeze columns A and B and rows 1 and 2
If you select E7, you will freeze columns A,B,C,and D and rows 1 through 6.
You do not need to use split. Just freeze panes.

Your right Chemist B. I learned this way long time ago and may be because of old version of excels
