Schedule optimization using solver

I have a question on how to possibly do schedule optimization in excel. I am not talking about a work schedule or the such, but a travel schedule. Basically I want to know if its possible to optimize a travel schedule if I have a schedule of cities and a distance matrix. For example, on 4/5/11 I could be in Phoenix or Salt Lake city, on 4/6/11 I could be in LA or Idaho, etc. and using the distance matrix determining where I should go.

So data looks like (number of possibilities change depending on the day):
4/5/11 Phoneix
4/5/11 Salt Lake
4/6/11 LA
4/6/11 Idaho
4/7/11 Tempe
4/7/11 Denver
4/7/11 Austin

then a simple distance matrix between all the cities.
