Prevent a month from appearing as a serial number

Hi

I am experiencing difficulties with a formula which displays the relevant month as a serial number.

I have a sheet which lists the names of staff members in column A and the date their work took place in column B. In order to calculate the month the work took place, column C displays the details of column B and has been custom formatted as 'mmmm'.

I now have a number of formulas which are required on a separate sheet and the first of these formulas requires the name of the staff member and the month their work took place. An example of this has been displayed in the sheet attached.

Using cell E3 as an example, to display the contents of cell A3 and C3, I have used the forumla '=A3&C3'; however, as oppose to appearing as DaveOctober, the cell displays Dave41192.

Is it possible for cell E3 to display DaveOctober?
