    Conditional Formatting on Cells with Formulas

    Hello,

    I have a table in excel whose cells have If statement formulas that yield specific numbers. I want to color code these cells via conditional formatting but it doesnt seem to be working? Should that be the case or have i got something wrong? how can i resolve this? please help!

    Thanks,

    I simply selected the cells and clicked on conditional formatting entering the conditions but the cells dont recognize it. It works when i remove the formulas!

    When I asked what did you try, I meant by way of the formula. Can you post it here so we know what we are working with?

    Re: Conditional Formatting on Cells with Formulas

    Oh sorry, the formula is:

    =IF(D15<$Y$4,"20",IF(AND(D15>=$Y$4,D15<$Y$5),"15",IF(AND(D15>=$Y$5,D15<$Y$6),"10",IF(AND(D15>=$Y$6,D15<$Y$7),"5",IF(D15>=$Y$7,"3")))))

    My problem is conditionally formatting the cells which have this formula.

    Thanks

    If you are returning a number to the cell, remove the "quotes" from around the numbers. The "quotes" make the number look like text.
