Angry SUM IF Forumla? Can't get the format right...

How do you create a formula in Excel that shows the SUM of values in a certain column whose corresponding values in another column equal a certain TEXT? For example, I want to know the total of (A1:A10) for only the rows who’s (Column B) equals “Mailer” without including any of other (column A) totals from the rows whos (column B) does NOT equal "Mailer". I have tried this: =SUMIF(I2:I180,(P2:P180)=("Mailer")). No success.
