    Importing data and update, query?

    Hi,

I'm looking to create a "tool" with information coming from two different documents (excel), one with price info etc and one with sales figures etc. These individual documents are going to be updated now and then (and need to stay as seperate documents), and I want the combined "tool" with these documents' info to also be updated. So I've been playing around with MS Excel's query function to import the data. Thought I had it all settled but now when I tried to see if the data would sync by pressing the "refesh all" button, I just get an error (after having changed a figure in one of the original documents to see if it worked).

So basically my question is, why do I get an error? Is this data import function not inteded for what I'm trying to do, is that why I get an error? What should I do?

    Thank you,
    Emma

You can certainly set up data queries to another Excel file, although the typical way to do this is to use formulas that refer directly to the other files.

When asking why you get an error, it is essential to post:
    • The exact text of the error message
    • The exact actions that led to that error (in this case, how you set up the data query)

The ideal situation would be if you could post the price info file, the sales figures file, and the tool file. However, do not post proprietary information.
